It looks like some of 5283 has yet to actually notice that a blog is part of the class! There will likely be some more students joining us as I've been sending notices and queries about where everyone is. If you're just now joining us, take some time to read the first post below to see what this class project is all about.
You're essentially telling stories about your experience as a student in TWU's online MSN-NE program for the purposes of informing a student-centered naturalistic evaluation. These experiences may be related to your formal course work, how your educational experience has affected other aspects of your life, or anything else along those lines. Being a graduate student is a role filled with responsibility and it's likely that this program has turned your world a bit upside down. Tell us some stories about the good, the bad, and the ugly. Not only will this help to make sense of your own experience, but it is a chance to inform the review and revision of your program, because I will be forwarding the results of this class project to the TWU committee who will be evaluating the MSN-NE program. Let your voice be heard.
Those of you joining late will have a little catching up to do, but I don't anticipate that it will be too arduous. I am not intending to submit any participation report to Dr. Sheriff until the beginning of October; you've got about two and a half weeks to post an introduction and 4 entries regarding your educational experiences. That will earn you 5% of your course grade, which is a pretty good deal for simply writing about your experiences in the program. The rest of your entries (1 per week) will earn another 10% - an easy letter and a half.
By the way, I am the only faculty that has access to this blog, so don't worry about other faculty reading your posts and taking offense. Any information that I share with them will be deidentified or, more likely, conceptual rather than directly quoted. Still, let me know if you have questions about this. I want you to feel comfortable and will do what I can to help.
